Mr Matthias Radosztics, deputy head of mission from the Austrian Embassy recently donated brand new German language books to the Merensky 2 Library. This is the sixth year in a row that support in the form of new library material has been received from the Austrian Embassy to the German language programmes run in the University of Pretoria’s Ancient and Modern Languages and Cultures (AMLC) department.

The event was attended by representatives from the department, Department of Library Services, management members, as well as staff members involved with and responsible for the German language books and donations in the library.

Part of the donation this year was a package from the Salzburg region, containing a music CD and books and pamphlets in celebration of the hymn, Stille Nacht! (known in English as Silent Night) which is originally from Salzburg. This year is the 200th year celebration of this hymn that has become known the world over.
