Dean's Concert: 'Where Africa meets the West'

Posted on April 13, 2017

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Pretoria cordially invites you to the Dean's Concert: 'Where Africa meets the West', with the University of Pretoria Camerata, conducted by Michael Barrett, international conductor Prof Cameron LaBarr and Charl du Plessis as accompanist.

This special fundraising concert will ensure that all the choir members are able to join the group's July 2017 tour, during which they will compete in the Grand Prix of Nations in Riga, Latvia.

It is Tuks Camerata's policy that no choir member will be left behind when the choir tours internationally, but the choir still need funds to enable two choir members to join the tour. Your support will make an immense difference to the lives of these students.

'Where Africa meets the West' is a concert for all South Africans as it juxtaposes the uniquely South African diversity, from the Western idiom of compositions by Hofmeyr, Temming, Van der Watt and Barrett, to authentic, traditional African songs and dances.
