UP researchers recognised on Brigham Young University Accounting Research Rankings

The Brigham Young Accounting Research Rankings have been released, reflecting authors and institutions that actively publish in the leading US accounting and related research journals.

The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences congratulates Prof Stephen Coetzee, Ms Astrid Schmulian, Ms Cecile Janse van Rensburg and Ms Lizette Kotze from the Department of Accounting, who have all been ranked on the Brigham Young Accounting Research Rankings for 2016.

A summary of the Accounting Education rankings shows the following:

  • University ranking based on outputs for the past six years: University of Pretoria = 4 of 252 rated universities;
  • Author rankings for the past six years: Prof Coetzee and Ms Schmulian = 10 of 67 rated researchers and Ms Janse van Rensburg and Ms Kotze = 66 of 348 rated researchers.

Prof Coetzee and Ms Schmulian's research focuses on matters pertaining to the education of financial reporting students on an introductory course to International Financial Reporting Standards. Ms Janse van Rensburg considers the reading comprehension of financial reporting students, while Ms Kotze focuses on these students' communication apprehension.
