Representatives from Danone Nutricia Research visited Enterprises University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd (Enterprises UP) to explore the capabilities of the Sensory Research Unit led by Professor Riette de Kock, who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science at the University of Pretoria. Nutricia Research is an international research and development company which focuses on early-life nutrition with a focus on research about infant nutrition through formula development.
The aim of the visit from the delegation was to investigate possible areas of research collaboration. Prof De Kock is a member of the European Sensory Network and currently serves as its research chair.
Danone Nutricia Research was presented with an overview of possible areas of collaboration including semiotics, ethnographic and cultural studies, consumer behaviour and market research, to name a few. The visit concluded with a campus tour to the Sensory Research Unit's facilities, including the consumer testing laboratory that uses state-of-the-art Compusense sensory research software.
