Prof Erika de Wet, SARChI Professor of International Constitutional Law at the University of Pretoria, gave a public lecture entitled 'Military intervention by invitation in the 21st century' at the Ruby Auditorium of the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria.
Prof De Wet focused on the implications of African state practice pertaining to military intervention by invitation and compared it to that of other regions. Since 2010 military intervention by invitation has proliferated in Africa and the Middle East.
