Life-long learning has no limits

Posted on November 18, 2016

At the age of 80, Mr Ivor Evans is a great advocate for life-long learning and the benefits of continuing education no matter your age. Since beginning his engineering career in 1956, Mr Evans has continued to invest in education programmes and to empower himself in an effort to adjust to the ever-changing trends of his occupation in construction engineering.

Mr Evans recently attended the Construction Procurement short course presented by Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP). This makes him the oldest delegate to have completed a course through Enterprises UP.

As an active consultant with many years of experience in construction engineering, he noted that the main reasons he attended were self-fulfilment and to maintain his level of knowledge within his profession. ‘I find construction procurement very interesting and I wish to branch into this segment of the industry through my consulting work,’ he says.

‘Never stop learning because life never stops teaching.’
