Message to parents and guardians from the Vice-Chancellor and Principal

Posted on November 18, 2016

Dear parents and guardians of UP students

Now that we have almost concluded the first week of our November 2016 examinations, I am very pleased to be able to report to you that all of the examinations that were scheduled for this week have been completed. We are also pleased to be able to inform you that the statistics show that the percentage of students who have arrived to write their exams has been the same this year as in previous years, indicating that students are eager to complete their exams during the normal scheduled examination period. I would like to thank all our students for their cooperation in complying with the new examination procedures.

I would also like to express my sincere thanks to all members of the University community for their cooperation with the arrangements necessary to ensure our students' safe access to the campuses. I am also grateful to our staff for their dedication and commitment in helping to implement the processes needed to run the examinations successfully.

Students who have encountered any problems related to attendance at the exams, including absence due to illness, are advised that they must contact their Faculties as soon as possible.

Following the conclusion of the examinations, supplementary examinations will take place between 5 and 9 December. Students will be notified by their Faculties if they are invited to write the supplementary examinations. Again, if students or parents have any queries in this regard, they should contact the Faculty offices.

We look forward to continuing with the examinations schedule next week, as we remain committed to concluding the 2016 academic year.

Kind regards

Professor Cheryl de la Rey
Vice-Chancellor and Principal
