The programme remains committed to its goal of improving the health and wellbeing of all UP employees through education and stimulating activities that support positive lifestyle changes.
The group nutrition interventions we will present are designed to get groups of participants to adopt healthy eating habits, which is usually more effective than on one's own. The aims of this new initiative are to motivate employees to make wise food choices, to create an awareness of healthy diets that are easy to follow, to increase motivation, and to empower employees to become more active in order to improve their energy level and to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Two nutrition support groups, namely the 'Sweet truth about sugars' and the 'Let's drink to timely weight loss', will be introduced and will be available to all UP employees who want to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The groups will make it easier for individuals to maintain a healthy body weight by reducing their intake of refined sugars and drinking more water.
The groups will be led by a Bestmed dietician and an attendance register will be kept. Please note that participation is voluntary.
Attend the launch (an information session) of our first nutrition support group 'Sweet truth about sugars' on 14 October 2016 at 12:30 in Lecture Hall 2-2.7, Natural Sciences 1 Building, Hatfield Campus. The session will cover the impact of refined sugar on your diet energy level and the importance of changing habits and making good food choices. In addition, you will meet like-minded individuals and receive an informative booklet.
The next information session is for the support group 'Let's drink to timely weight loss'. It will be held on 28 October 2016 at 12:30 in Lecture Hall 2-2.7, Natural Sciences 1 Building, Hatfield Campus. We will look at the impact of drinking a sufficient amount of water and its link to weight loss. In addition, we'll focus on the importance of choosing healthy drinks and beverages and ways to get yourself to drink water and provide you with a water bottle.
For more information, please contact the wellness coordinator, Nakitha Lottering, at 012 420 2870 or [email protected]. Participants have to confirm their attendance by sending an email to Nakitha Lottering.
Let's make health and wellness a way of life!
Kind regards
