On Saturday, 16 July 2016, the Department of Facilities Management (Division Campus Services) and volunteers from the Dinokeng Voluntary Ranger Association hosted a very successful birding event at the Hillcrest Campus.

Participants walked along the Hartebeestspruit and identified various bird species found in the area. The bird species identified during the course of the day will be compared with the numbers and species identified during a similar event that took place in September 2015.

Interestingly two new species that were previously not on the list for the campus were identified. These were the African Wattled Lapwing and the African Black Duck.
