Transforming student spaces on campus

Posted on April 29, 2016

You are invited to attend the next SCITAL Forum session on developments that are being planned for transforming student spaces on campus on Wednesday, 11 May 2016. This is an event not to be missed.

SCITAL Forum is currently exploring the theme of Learning Spaces and the upcoming session will inform you about so called Social Learning Spaces. A Social Learning Space is a trendy European concept and refers to spaces on campus where students informally spend academic time together, or alone. The University of Pretoria is rapidly identifying and developing such spaces. We have invited the threesome of Prof Susan Adendorff  (Director of Facilities Management), Nicolaas Bester (Deputy Director in Facilities Management) and Ané Genis (Campus architect) to inform  us about these developments.

A further delight is an included visit to the Makerspace, a particular Social Learning Space that is already operational. In short, Makerspace is a place where students can bring their creative ideas to life. It is situated in the library and offers a space where students learn and together put their creative ideas into practice, equipped with rapid processing technologies like 3D printers. Dennis Kriel of Education Innovation will tell us more.

Date: Wednesday, 11 May at 15:00. Refreshments will be served from 14:40.
Venue: Auditorium, Level 3, Merensky 2 Library, Hatfield Campus
RSVP: [email protected] before Monday, 9 May 2016
