Transformation work streams

Posted on April 01, 2016

Following the Transformation Lekgotla that was held on 5 March 2016 between representatives of student groupings and senior UP management, the three identified work streams kicked off with their activities a while ago.

The work streams are: The Language Policy work stream, which is chaired by Prof Eric Buch, the Curriculum Transformation work stream, chaired by Prof Norman Duncan and the Institutional and Residential Culture work stream, chaired by Ms Patience Mushungwa and Prof Niek Grové. Prof Anton Kok coordinates the activities of the three work streams.

Further meetings have already been scheduled for the various work streams for April and May. The purpose of the three work streams is to have frank and fruitful discussions in order to provide the various faculty boards, Senate, Council and other relevant UP structures with concrete, actionable proposals.

Discussions are also held between students and staff to explore a shared understanding of what constitutes peaceful demonstration. These discussions are chaired by the retired Constitutional Court Judge, Justice Johann van der Westhuizen.

The activities of the three work streams and the discussions on peaceful demonstration may be followed on the intranet –
