Prof Jerry Kuye, professor of public administration and policy in UP’s School of Public Management and Administration, has been appointed by the Minister of Higher Education and Training Dr Blade Nzimande to serve on the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) Board for the term of 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2020.
Minister Nzimande expressed his gratitude towards Prof Kuye for accepting to serve on the SAQA Board and welcomed him as a member of the Board.
Prof Kuye received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba in Canada. He then attained a master’s degree in public affairs at the University of Winnipeg, also in Canada, followed by a PhD at the University of Manitoba. He was a recipient of the distinguished Besarobovitch Fellowship Award for his doctoral studies.
Prof Kuye was Director of the School of Public Management and Administration (SPMA) in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences from 2000 to 2013. He currently serves as a board member on the Commission on International Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training Programmes (CIAPA), of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) in Brussels.
