Arrangements for strict access control on Hatfield Campus from 29 February

Posted on February 26, 2016

All staff, students and visitors should please take note of the following arrangements for strictly controlled access to the Hatfield Campus of the University, in the interest of safety:

UP staff and students

UP staff and students will only be able to gain access with a valid staff or student card. Staff and student cards will be checked manually by security personnel at a point before the entrance to the University is reached. Staff and students are requested to please be patient as this process may lead to delays.

Where a UP staff member or student with vehicle access to the campus transports passengers in his/her vehicle, the passengers will be expected to disembark from the vehicle at the checkpoint and enter the campus on foot via an access control point.

Students and staff members who wish to access the campus on foot should note that security personnel will be on duty to ensure that access cards are not “passed back” to visitors, students, or staff members who do not have their access cards with them.

The following access points to the campus will be available for staff and students:

  • Roper street (Main gate) – vehicle and pedestrian access;
  • University Road (Engineering gate) – vehicle and pedestrian access;
  • Prospect Street – pedestrian access only;
  • Lunnon Street - vehicle and pedestrian access.

Visitors

Visitors will be required to complete the register at the Roper Street gate, and will be required to present a valid Identity Document or Driver’s Licence, before being allowed to enter the campus.

Buses

A new centralised drop-off and departure point for all official UP bus services to and from the Hatfield Campus will be in operation as of Monday, 29 February 2016 from the H29 parking area on the corner of Duxbury Road and Herold Street.

Pedestrian access from the buses to the campus will be via the turnstiles in the south western corner of the parking area (Lunnon Road entrance) or the turnstiles on the corner of Duxbury Road and Hilda Street (in front of the Plant Sciences Complex).
