Minét Uys, the top achiever in Gauteng and a former learner at the Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool in Pretoria, has enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT) at the University of Pretoria (UP). She achieved eight distinctions in her final matric exams.
Minét wants to qualify as a chemical engineer, after which she hopes to specialise in biochemical engineering. Professor Sunil Maharaj, Dean of EBIT, recently met with Minét and her parents to congratulate them on her achievements and to welcome her to the Faculty. Her passion to develop creative solutions to contribute to the well-being of her fellow men and women is one hundred per cent in line with the vision of both the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology.
The School of Engineering at UP is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and attracts top achievers from all over the country. Thomson Reuters Essential Science Indicators ranks UP’s School of Engineering in the top one per cent of engineering schools in the world and affords it the highest ranking in South Africa. For this the Faculty salutes its founders, alumni, current students, staff, and business partners.
The Faculty is proud to join forces with Minét who shares its vision and embodies the hope of a better future for South Africa.
