2016 Paediatric UPdate registration now open!

Posted on November 24, 2015

The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Pretoria cordially invites you to the Annual CME Paediatric UPdate 2016. The meeting will take place at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Menlyn in Pretoria on Friday and Saturday, 4 and 5 March 2016.

We are developing a programme focussed on sharing new information regarding treatment of common and problematic conditions. The Pulmonology and Allergy sessions will feature topic highlights on common conditions such as wheeze, recurrent respiratory tract infections and food allergy. Presented by some of our esteemed colleagues in private practice, including Despina Demopoulos, Ashley Jeevarathnum, Claudia Gray, Rob Weiss and André van Niekerk, these sessions promise to provide much new and exciting data.

We will be sharing new thoughts on common neonatal, neurological and infectious diseases, as well as a host of other topics. Angela Dramowski and the local paediatric Infectious Diseases team will provide an update on childhood immunisations and the immunisation requirements and recommendations for maternal and healthcare workers. A session on children of schoolgoing age by André Venter will shed some light on ADHD and sport-related matters will be addressed by Cobus Wessels. Elsa Lubbe will present an overview of the use of Botox in children.

UPdate, now in its 8th year, was created to meet the need for ongoing Paediatric CME in Pretoria and is now moving beyond regional boundaries. We are truly proud of what we have achieved over the past 7 years and thank and acknowledge the contribution of our colleagues, Izelle Smuts and Nicolette du Plessis, who have made the journey truly memorable.

We all work to improve the lives of the children in our care and we benefit tremendously from networking and sharing new thoughts and ideas.

We hope to see you all at the meeting.

Professor Robin Green
UPdate Course Chairman
