In celebration of National Book Week, the Department of Library Services invites you to a personal reflection on a life with books by Prof Molly Brown.
South Africa commemorates National Book Week in September. It is an initiative of the South African Book Development Council (SABDC) in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture. National Book Week is an important initiative in encouraging the nation to value reading as a fun and pleasurable activity and to showcase how reading can easily be incorporated into one’s daily life.

More about our speaker: Prof Molly Brown is the Head of Department of English at UP. Her interests are varied but tend to cluster around lyric poetry, eighteenth-century literature and all forms of the romance, from Spenser and Malory to Tolkien, Le Guin and JK Rowling. Students who secretly commit poetry or lurk around the science fiction shelves of their local bookshop are welcome!
