UP-Tuks will receive a major boost as head coach Evangelos Vellios is back from his coaching course in Ireland. The defending champions have done tremendously well in his absence, collecting all of the six possible points in their last two encounters. After a hard-fought 1-0 win against Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha, the two-time defending champions are beaming with confidence and morale is high within the camp as they seek to achieve their primary objective of playing the semi-final at home.
UP-Tuks head coach Vellios feels that his coaching course will add value to the club. ‘I’m very happy with how the team has done in my absence, to collect two wins out of two with two clean sheets is phenomenal in this tournament. With regard to the coaching course, I bring back vast knowledge that will benefit everyone in the club but the focus now is on WITS, who currently sit on four points. They will come at us with everything they have as the tournament is now nearing the business end. We are confident, however, and won’t be deterred by anything in our quest for three points.’
WITS have their work cut out for them as they have only scored a single goal in their last three matches. They will be looking to cause an upset at the Tuks Stadium to increase their chances of sneaking into the top four. A win for UP-Tuks will catapult them to second on the log while a win for WITS might take them to fourth, depending on how many goals are scored.
Tickets for this evening’s match will be on sale from 15:00 at the Ticket Office on the LC de Villiers Sports Grounds at R10 each. Alternatively, you can download the Varsity Sports SA app on iTunes or Google Play and download your tickets for free.
