The Department of Genetics at the University of Pretoria and the Royal Society of South Africa Invite you to a public lecture by Prof Francis Thackeray titled: Human evolution and morphometric analyses of vertebrate crania, in relation to a statistical (probabilistic) definition of a biological species, with reference to genetics, "incomplete lineage sorting" and sigma taxonomy: Boundaries between species are not always necessarily clear.
Prof Thackeray is the President of the Royal Society of South Africa, incumbent of the Phillip Tobias Chair in Palaeoanthropology and Director of the Evolutionary Studies Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).
The lecture will take place at 12:00 on Monday 22 June in the Sanlam Auditorium at the University of Pretoria’s Hatfield Campus.
