The University of Pretoria (UP)’s Faculty of Theology and the Evangelisches Stift Tübingen in Germany signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in April 2015 inspired by the extensive possibilities offered by international cooperation. One exchange student from each institution will take part in this programme annually, effective from 2016.

Through the Memorandum of Cooperation, the two institutions recognise the need to develop and nurture new partnerships and to share human and material resources, with the aim of promoting international understanding, contribute to the pool of global knowledge and advance the development of our respective countries and world.

In the spirit of this challenge and responsibility, the parties acknowledge the similarities in the scholarly pursuits of the institutions and desire to promote inter-institutional cooperation, scientific and cultural exchange and mutual understanding and respect between citizens of the RSA and Germany. Therefore, mutually beneficial scientific, technological, educational and other relations based on the exchange of students in respect of specific research projects or courses of interest and importance are established and encouraged.
