Prof Howard Alper, a distinguished Professor at the University of Ottawa and Chair of the Canadian Science, Technology and Innovation Council, will be awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Pretoria (UP) on 22 April 2015. He is very highly regarded internationally as a chemist, and also for developing science networks, science academies and systems to support young scientists around the world.
