The power of ‘like’ – social networks analysis

International researcher Prof Holger Lütters, a professor from the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft in Berlin, Germany, presented an insightful guest lecture to the Marketing Management honours class on ‘The power of “like” – social networks analysis’.

 Prof Lütters’ visit is a continuation of the research collaboration with Drs Maree, Van Heerden and Wiese – staff members of the Department of Marketing Management, and was initiated during a staff exchange visit in January of 2014. Prof Lütters teaches International Marketing and his research focuses on online marketing research as well as digital and mobile applications in this field.

During his visit, Prof Lütters also attended the annual SAIMS conference where two collaborative papers were presented. He furthermore shared his expertise at the Faculty’s Brown Bag session, where he presented some of his work in online research.

Further collaborative research projects are expected to be conducted between the Department and Prof Lütters. The visit was made possible by the Stephan and Pierre Viljoen Award, which was graciously awarded to Dr Maree to enable Prof Lütters the research visit.
