Third place for UP student in national Nedbank Traders Trophy

Posted on June 04, 2012

The Graduate Career Office of the Client Service Centre organised the qualification round for students on the UP Campus, after which Pali got the chance to show his skill at national level.

During the simulation competition, students are exposed to the same noisiness and pressure conditions of a typical trading room for a period of 60 minutes. They are expected to take positions and quote prices to their clients while keeping abreast with the latest news and trends in the market. The students are then judged on their numerical skills, financial awareness, profitability, risk management, client service and market awareness.

Malusi Mthiyane from the University of KwaZulu-Natal won the title “South Africa’s Best Student Trader”. Together with runner up Andries Havenga from Stellenbosch University, he will compete against winners from 15 other countries in the Traders Trophy Worldwide Final next year.
