During her eleven-year tenure at Denel, Ms Mushungwa rose through the ranks after her initial appointment as HR Consultant at the then Kentron (a division of Denel). Along the way she develop and implemented a leadership and management development programme, oversaw the achievement of the Group’s level 3 BBBEE status (from level 8 previously), and introduced a team spirit culture by setting up a Senior Leadership Symposium for Denel’s top 100 leaders.
She is recognised as a consistent and successful champion of transformation and human capital development in the Group, by virtue of her unique set of ‘people’ capabilities, characteristics and competencies. Her inclusive leadership style – giving people room to innovate and find creative ways to solve problems – has stood her in good stead.
The University looks forward to welcoming Ms Patience Mushungwa as a member of its Executive. The skills and insights gained from her background and experience will undoubtedly add value to the University and the Executive Management team.
