TuksSwimming : Emily does UP proud

Posted on August 15, 2011

All in all Emily did extremely well during this competition, showing that she is well on track with hr preparation for the 2012 games. Her performances included winning 4 Bronze medals (out of the 7 events swum), 5 great personal best times (and also always swimming faster times in the evening finals, compared to the morning heats), 2 London 2012 Qualifying times and is now also very close to another 3 events qualifying times.

Emily flies home today from Canada and when she lands on wednesday will go straight to Sun City for the SA Sports Awards function, where she is in contention for SA Disabled Sports women of the year award, a huge honour.

Emily in the next few months, awaiting confirmation, will look to compete at the All Africa Games in Maputo (September) and at an IPC event in Rio, Brazil (October). Both of these meets along with the one she has just competed in forms an integral part of her preparation for next years Paralympics. As TuksSwimming we are proud of Emily's achievments and look forward to her competing at the games in 2012.
