Prof Koornhof, who is currently Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, holds a doctoral degree in Accounting and is a registered Chartered Accountant (SA).

Specialising in Financial Reporting (IFRS), Prof Koornhof has contributed towards the training of chartered accountants and has, among many other publications, published four textbooks on Accounting and IFRS with co-authors. She was invited to join the British Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as a fellow and is a Registered Auditor registered with the Independent Regulating Board of Auditors of South Africa.

In 2007, Prof Koornhof was nominated by the University to attend the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) at Harvard Business School in the USA. As board member and audit committee member of a number of entities and as trustee of the UP Pension and Provident Fund, Prof Koornhof has gained extensive experience in the oversight, governance, finances and management of large organisations.

The University looks forward to welcoming Prof Koornhof as a member of its Executive. The specialised skills, knowledge and experience that she brings to the position will undoubtedly add great value to the University and to the Executive Management team.
