UP Archaeology Society Students Engage Community at Sedibeng Primary School

Posted on August 31, 2010

Anea Burke, Elouise Lamprecht, Ruth Shand, and Helen Wang travelled to Refilwe to help maintain and upgrade the playground equipment of Sedibeng Primary School. Anea Burke's mother and a friend also pitched in to help plant a garden. Informal discussions with learners about Archaeology helped sensitise these young minds to South Africa's immense and complex history.

In other Community Engagement, Honours students Simone Brunton and Tanya Hattingh went to SASOL Techno-X to conduct one-on-one discussions with prospective learners. All UP Honours students are required to conduct one outreach activity per semester.
