Dr. Sven Ouzman invited to NRF's Expert Team on Palaeosciences

The Steering Committee of the Palaoesciences, chaired by Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Derek Hanekom, recently invited Dr. Sven Ouzman of UP Anthropology & Archaeology to serve on the Expert Team for the Palaeosciences.

The Expert Team comprises specialists from Archaeology, Paleo-Anthropology and Palaeontology. The Team's brief is to draft overarching policy for the Palaeosciences within the NRF's African Origins Platform.  The policy is aimed at addressing issues like human responses to climate change, how South Africa's fossil record contributes to our understanding of life, what make humans human, how rock art helps us understand human cognition, the state of the country's collections and so forth. The policy's brief is to ensure excellent research quality and enable as much postgraduate research as possible.
