For the brave ones, it was simple: no more bad hair days! For the rest, there was a fun alternative: pink, purple, green, gold and silver hair spray!
Students from TuksRag and StudentSport as well as the Day Houses, Faculty Houses and the SRC were on hand to shave or spray. Many residences came in groups to support each other. TuksFM drew the crowds while Perdeby covered this hair-raising story.
More than 300 staff and students shaved or sprayed their hair to show solidarity with loved ones who have cancer. Some girls even donated their lovely ponytails to CANSA’s wig project. Close to R17 000 was raised.
The organisers of the event, Mia Badenhorst and Anneke Bothma, would like to thank all the volunteers and participants who contributed to this great success. It would not have been possible without the financial support from the Dean of Students and the Vodacom Foundation.
Boekenhout men's residence organised their own Shavathon (or 'Sprayathon') rather. More than 120 Boekenhout guys sprayed their hair blue to support this worthy cause.
