UP to host international debate on climate justice

speakersThe Global Humanitarian Forum based in Geneva will host the panel discussion  in collaboration with the University of Pretoria on February 28.

The Forum has confirmed Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Mary Robinson and Kofi Annan (via video link) as panelists, with Nisha Pillai of BBC World Television as moderator. Other panelists will be confirmed nearer to the time. The Conference will present an opportunity for students and faculty of the University to debate the moral imperative for Climate Justice with some of the foremost experts on the issue.

Students and faculty will be invited to engage the panelists in a question and answer session immediately following the panel discussion. What do we mean by Climate Justice? Who is responsible for delivering it? What role do we have? These questions and others will be openly explored in a direct, insightful and honest manner. The meeting will be followed by a press conference with the international media.

The debate is not open to the public.
