These computers are meant to empower the disadvantaged youth of Pretoria to be able to become computer literate.
The computers were donated by The Reserve Bank as well as MTN. Tuks Rag Committee chose Boschkop as one of the schools after locating them through the Adopt-a-School Foundation. The handing over function will be attended by members of the committee, Tuks Rag C.E.O and executive members of the organisation, as well as its debutantes and invited guests.
Tuks RAG is the University of Pretoria’s student driven charity organisation. The committee is run by students on a strictly voluntary basis and aims to change the community through charity work. It also aims to develop its students into compassionate human beings by making them aware of the plight of the less fortunate.
“This event (donation of computers) will epitomise what we as RAG stand for, empowering the community through charity and compassion while developing our future leaders” said Khangelani Bhengu – an executive member of the Tuks Student Help Organisation (TUSHO).
TUSHO is a portfolio responsible for this computer donating project at Boschkop Primary School.
Meanwhile, the annual Rag Procession will take place on Saturday 31 January 2009. The event has grown tremendously since its inception in the last century. Besides students participating in the Procession, the Rag Procession attracts general public who line the streets to observe the occasion. All these people have one aim in common, namely; to donate their money to the Rag procession for the good cause, i.e. Charity.
