"Not only did we want to demonstrate that we strongly reject the violence that has been perpetrated against foreign nationals all over the country, but we also wanted to help through collecting donations, such as blankets and food, for the people who have lost their homes and possessions," explains Shamir Rohanlal of the UP Student Representative Council, one of the organisers of the march.
The peaceful demonstration started on the Hatfield campus and moved on to Duncan Street and back to the Piazza on the campus. About 150 students and staff members took place in the march.
