drastoel (a fun event where students race each other while carrying a res mate in a chair) in the morning and Onderstepoort’s beer fest in the evening. On Thursday night (7 February) the university’s birthday celebrations will kick off with a candle light procession and the lighting of the centenary flame.
The official festivities starts on Friday night at the Rag Farm in anticipation of Saturday’s big Rag procession, when a colourful display of different floats built by UP students will take over the streets of Pretoria. The procession leaves at 18h00 on Saturday from the university’s main gate in Lynnwood Road, takes a turn down University Road, follows the route all the way to Brooklyn circle and then makes its way to the Hatfield Square. There the end of Rag Week will be enjoyed in true Tuks style with loads of live entertainment and a rocking atmosphere.
