With nearly 1.2bn mobile phone users worldwide, many of them children, questions are repeatedly being raised about the safety of these devices.

The South African Mobile Phone Symposium will be held in Johannesburg from October 7 to 9. This forum will provide all interested parties from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) the opportunity to obtain the latest information on aspects of mobile telephony as it relates to health, standards, compliance and precaution. Prof Annie Joubert from the University of Pretoria’s Department of Physiology and Dr Carrin Heyser from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology are part of the Scientific Programme Committee at the symposium.
