Unique space and aviation photo competition for school learners

Learners are invited to take pictures that illustrate how aeronautics technology has pervaded our modern society. The winning entrant receives R5000, but there are also exceptional prizes in stall for all top 20 entrants.

These learners will be invited to attend a unique and fun-filled Space and Aviation Camp in Pretoria from 4 to 7 July. The learner who is judged to be the top performer at the camp, will win an all-expenses-paid visit to NASA, and will attend the International Space School in Houston, Texas!

The Space and Aviation Camp in Pretoria will include lectures by two American aeronautical engineers, a trip in a military aircraft, visit to aircraft factories, wind tunnel work, the opportunity to fly in a real aircraft simulator, and group work. The 20 lucky learners will also get the opportunity to be spun to three and a half g’s in a huge centrifuge used for fighter pilot training.

The closing date for entries is 11 June 2007.

Visit www.me.up.ac.za/space, or call Karin Fischer: (012) 420-3104 for competition details, as well as information about the camp.
