Schoeman finished third in the 50m Butterfly in a time of 23.57 behind Munoz and Lauterstein.
Andrew Lauterstein had won in Barcelona. This time it was the Spaniard who came up trumps touching the wall in a new National Record time of 23.37sec. Lauterstein was timed at 23.44sec.
Despite swimming a faster time, William Diering was not able to emulate his Barcelona Bronze Medal feat in the 200m Breaststroke.
Diering touched the wall in 2:13;49 with splits of 30.38sec (50m), 104;12 (100m) and 1:38;61 at 150m. Australia’s Christian Sprenger again claimed Gold (2:11;89) with countryman Craig Calder second (2:12;43) and Marco Koch of Germany winning the Bronze (2:12;59).
