Fick wins Swazi Challenge

Twenty-year old Derick Fick, a BA Sports Science Student specializing in Golf was the individual winner with the Tuks Team finishing second overall behind the national Swazi Team. “I think that is a fantastic performance for our team,” said Johan Steyn, Golf Manager at the University of Pretoria. “To finish second overall behind a national team and have individual victory is quite something considering we did not send our strongest team.”

Tuks was invited along with a number of other clubs and Academies by the Swazi Golf Federation, as their national team are looking for match practice.

Tuks Golf is full of talent and have had some international success before. Jacques Van Tonder and Reghard Neethling for example have competed against the best University Golfers in the World and competed at the hallowed grounds of St Andrews Golf Course in Scotland.

Clearly the practice, training and scientific back-up available at the High Performance Centre and the Golf Academy are bearing fruit.
