Schoeman upset the apple cart again in the 50m breaststroke when he edged compatriot Cameron van den Burgh 25:58 to 25.76, very much as he did in Durban in the first leg of the World Cup. Ironically Schoeman, who is world famous for his quick starts had one of the poorer reaction times, yet he was able to come through strongly in the final stages of the race for his victory.
Nicholas Dos Santos then edged Schoeman in his favourite event, the 50m butterfly. The Brazilian needing 22.16sec for the race with Schoeman touching the wall in 22.27.
Medal number three came in the 50m freestyle where Roland Schoeman again finished behind the Brazilian Nicholas Dos Santos. His conqueror needed 20.75sec to cover the 50m with Schoeman clocking 20.89sec.
His efforts over the 5 legged series saw Schoeman end on 131 points and earn himself the overall runner’s up spot and $50 000.
