First Year students were entertained by the Tuks Cheerleaders, Tuks Camarata, UP Chorale Choir, UP Symphony Orchestra and various live sport demonstrations, including aikido and fencing. UP’s very own girl-band, “Saarkie” got everyone on their feet. The official UP mascot, Oom Gert, also made a guest appearance – heavily guarded by Sonop.
The programme, co-ordinated by Dr Rina Wilken from the Department of Student Affairs, is aimed at showcasing the vast range of student life activities at Tuks, thereby encouraging first year students to get actively involved.
