The SIFE UP team, now only 2 years old, showed their championship caliber when they were crowned the 2010 National Champions at last week’s SIFE SA National Competition.
After winning an award for every SIFE topic pillar in their opening round, SIFE UP was able to knock the likes of SIFE UCT and Stellenbosch out to move to the final round where they competed against the SIFE teams of Zululand, Durban University of Technology and the, then, reigning champions UKZN.
After selecting to present last, SIFE UP swept the stage and clinched the cup while the remaining universities’ chants of UP echoed throughout the Birchwood Conference Centre. As the official SA Champions, SIFE UP will now go on to represent South Africa at the upcoming SIFE World Cup in Los Angeles on 10-12 October.
SIFE stands for “Students in Free Enterprise” and the SIFE UP team is a product of the Top Junior Top Senior Programme under the guardianship of Dr Rina Wilken in the Department of Student Affairs.
