Comparative and International Law Expert Delivers a Public Lecture at UP

Prof. Wolfrum is a Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany. He is also Judge and former President of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

He has authored and edited numerous books and articles on various issues of public international law including the law of the sea; international environmental law; human rights and the United Nations and the Antarctic. Prof. Wolfrum currently also serves as General Editor of the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law and Constitutions of the Countries of the World (both of which are published by Oxford University Press).

According to Prof. Erika de Wet, Extraordinary Professor in the UP Faculty of Law, Prof. Wolfrum’s lecture enhances the international profile of the UP Faculty of Law, especially in the areas of international and comparative law. She also stressed that the UP Faculty of Law strives to be the leader in these areas in Africa and the developing world.
