We believe that this appointment is an acknowledgement of Prof De Beer’s extensive experience in university management. UP is pleased that, through Prof De Beer’s secondment, it is able to make a contribution to the future development of the University of Zululand.
The appointment has been made according to the Higher Education Act in terms of which the Administrator, amongst others, will take over the powers of the Council of the University of Zululand. The appointment will take effect on Monday, April 18, 2011. As soon as he has completed his duties as Administrator, Prof De Beer will resume his position as Senior Vice-Principal at UP.
