Posted on February 28, 2012

The winners are as follows:

TuksRag Queen 2012: Mudinda Denda
First princess: Cecile Brits
Second princess: Leanda Els

TuksRag is extremely proud to have crowned Mudinda Denga as the 2012 TuksRag Queen. As a fourth-year student in Mining Engineering she has all it takes to be a well-deserving ambassador for TuksRag and for the University of Pretoria in general.

During her reign as the TuksRag Queen, Ms Denga will be involved in various community and outreach projects and her aim will be to keep the University as well as TuksRag’s name in high esteem while fulfilling the goal of TuksRag: to Reach out and Give. She will also be actively involved in inspiring Tuks students to concentrate on their academics and to become involved in community projects. She will be driving a branded Audi A1, proudly sponsored by McCarthy Audi (Arcadia).

We want to congratulate Ms Mudinda Denga and wish her all the best during her year as the reigning TuksRag Queen.

The crowning event was well planned, professionally organised and also well attended by students and the general public alike. The 18 debutante finalists showcased their talent while masters of ceremonies, Alex Caige and Nomuzi Mabena, ensured a fun-filled professional show. A number of the Who’s Who of South African talent performed services as judges for the event. They include the former TuksRag Queen of 1973 and Miss SA and Miss World of 1974, Ms Anneline Kriel, as well as Bonang Matheba, Simba Mhere, Hannon Bothma, Gerrit Pienaar, George Kasanga, Eloise Cupido and Bennet Koen. Their presence really gave radiance to this evening. The artists L’loyd Cele and the band December Streets provided entertainment for an unforgettable evening.

The event would not have been possible without the major debutante sponsors. TuksRag and the University would like to extend a warm word of thanks to the following sponsors: McCarthy Audi (Arcadia), Bené Water, Hannon Cosmetics and Sym Scooters.
