After undergraduate and honours studies at the universities of Limpopo, Witwatersrand and South Africa, Dr Madiba completed a master’s degree in Linguistics (cum laude) at the University of Pretoria in 2002, and a PhD at the University of the Western Cape with the thesis Investigating Design Issues in E-learning in 2009.

Apart from teaching and lecturing experience, Dr Madiba has been involved in extensive research, curriculum development and support as well as educational consultancy. She has presented many papers at national and international conferences, has published widely in scientific journals and is a member of several professional organisations. She is currently the President of HELTASA (Higher Education Learning and Teaching in Southern Africa).

Dr Madiba has a passion for student success and is a strong proponent for a holistic approach to ensuring student success. This underpins her vision for Student Affairs in terms of extracurricular student development as well as health and wellness.
