Posted on December 06, 2010

The choir was conducted by the acclaimed Christo Burger.  They participated in the International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Bratislava, Slovakia where they were announced winners of the Adult Choirs Category early December.

More than 25 choirs from amongst other Russia, Sweden, Croatia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Finland participated in this annual event.

“The honour of being awarded this internationally acclaimed award illustrates the University of Pretoria’s competitiveness on the international front” said Choir Manager Pamela Oosthuizen

The international jury consisted of Dr Jan Maria Dobrodinský from the Czech Republic, Toh Ban Sheng from Singapore, Andrea Angelini from Italy and Prof Blanka Juhaáková from Slovakia.

Tuks Camerata will extend their tour to Europe after the competition by giving concerts in Cracow and Gliwice in Poland and Altenmarkt, Götzis and Bildstein in Austria.  The choir members enjoyed Europe’s early heavy snow falls and frolicked in the snow wherever they went.
