It was UP-Tuks 8th Carlton Cup win in a row, but the first match in which they missed out on a bonus point awarded for scoring at least four tries.
It was also the second match running that UP-Tuks ‘lost’ the second half.
On 16 July UP-Tuks led 35-0 at the break against Naka Bulle, but lost the second half 5-12. On Friday Centurion scored 17 points to UP-Tuks’ 9 in the last 40 minutes. The UP-Tuks 1’s coaching staff will have to address this phenomenon before it becomes a habit.
UP-Tuks' tries were scored by Jono van Rensburg, Dirk Dippenaar and Gerrit Smith. Karlo Aspeling contributed 19 points through five penalty goals and two conversions.
Other results:
Tuks Fezelas 32, Centurion 27; Centurion 28, Tuks Pumas 13; Tuks Jongspan 52, Centurion u.21 6.
