Big win will boost Tuks morale

Even so Tuks still have their work cut out if they want to qualify for the play-offs for the third year running. There won’t be any easy pickings in the remaining three pool matches.

The result was never in doubt on Monday as Tuks again had the support of a big, enthusiastic home crowd. The Pretoria based students dominated up front and had too much fire power at the back. Even though the Madibaz put up a brave fight, Tuks almost scored at will once they put their minds to it.

It was all but a flawless performance by Tuks, but for now the win and the much needed bonus point for the fourth try scored will suffice.

Tuks’ point machine, Justin van Staden was not on target as in the match against TUT when he had a 100% strike rate with the boot. He was nevertheless a thorn in the visitors’ side with his personal contribution of 23 points (1 try, 6 conversions, 3 penalties).

Tuks’ other tries were scored by Ettienne Breytenbach (2), Dirk Dippenaar (2), Tendayi Chikukwa, Francois van Wyk (who was named Player that Rocks) Coenraad Pieterse and Marius Weber.
