“It is to be expected that when the top of the log team plays the bottom of the log one (Quins), it should be reflected in the final score. We beat them by a margin of 80 points, but more revealing of our win was that we were not out our best and could have scored at least four more tries. As long as there is room of improvement, the work is not done and we can thus not afford to be complacent,” said Blikkies.

Quins put up a brave fight in the first 20 minutes, but at halftime (35-7) it was more than evident that Tuks was about to run riot in the second half. And so they did by shredding the Quins defence to pieces like a master butcher. Many of the late tries were scored without any real effort from Tuks, but their overall performance bore testimony of a team blessed with cohesion, speed, flair and skills.

In a team that excelled as a unit, Boeboes Coetzee (fullback), replacement wing GD Kotzee and lock Peet Botma deserve special mention. Coetzee is fast becoming a prolific point machine, this time contributing 32 to the Tuks score with two tries and 11 conversions.
