BBTRA success story beyond belief

Posted on July 23, 2010

In 2009 and 2010 we have had 210 players coming through the system. This creates opportunities for the clubs and Provinces to recruit the best players in the Academy. It proved to be a very good source of talented players.

The group of 2010 competed in the first ever National Academy Cup in Empangeni in Durban and we lost in the final minute of extra time to the Sharks Academy. It was a fantastic opportunity for the players and we got huge exposure miles out of this tournament. The games were televised and repeated on SuperSport on four occassions.

The Blue Bulls Tuks Rugby Academy is also the first Academy in 2010 that presents sevens rugby as an option in our curriculum having the Olympics in 2016 in mind and to grow the game's technical knowledge and understanding.

To be part of the Academy builds character and we see these youngsters begin as school children but leave as men. The Academy's declared goal is to not only produce better equipped players but  aslo well balanced and adapted human beings.

The system is working and has a huge positive influence on the lives of hundreds of players, parents and coaches.
