More remarkable reading is that Tuks scored 111 points to 51 in the two most important matches of the season. Their resounding win against 2009 champions Police followed the 62-28 win against Silver Valke in the semi-finals. Any team that can score 14 tries to 6 in the play-offs deserve to wear the crown.

Tuks did not start the final like a champion. They looked to be the more jittery side in the opening 20 minutes and gave away two tries through silly mistakes. With the score at 20-12 Police had to be thinking they had Tuks against the ropes. Two penalty goals in the last five minutes narrowed the gap however to only two points (20-18) bringing Tuks firmly back in the picture.

The second half belonged to Tuks as they steadily started outplaying their opponents with innovative play. Tuks hit early and hard with two converted tries to not only overtake Police on the score board but also build up a handy lead of 12 points (32-20).

Police narrowed the gap to 32-23, but Tuks put the result beyond any doubt by scoring two tries in the last three minutes.

Every Tuks player needs to be commended on a job well done. They were under a lot of pressure in the first half, but did not lose the plot completely. Their performance in the second half was superb and showed all the makings a great team.

Marius Weber, No 8 and captain, Peet Botha (lock), Louis van Biljon (flanker), Gerhardus Smith (inside centre), JW Bell (left wing) and Shaun Davids (fullback) do however deserve special mention for outstanding individual performances.
