TuksRugby : Tuks 1's disastrous Club Champs story

Posted on September 26, 2010

The harsh truth that Tuks 1 will have to face after one win in three matches is that they were not competitive enough against their Varsity Cup peers. In fact, Tuks 1 never looked like winning their matches against UJ (lost 23-33 in the first round) or Shimlas.

Tuks had little trouble in clinching the local Carlton Cup title, amassing 113 points (14 tries) in the semi-final and final. But their dominance in the Blue Bulls’ top competition proved to be very deceptive as the National Club Championships showed beyond any doubt.

Fortunately for Tuks, they will field a new look side in the 2011 Varsity Cup Competition as talent hunters Nollis Marais and Werner de Beer have done wonders to secure a squad that will be as good or even better than those of the other universities contesting the Varsity Cup.
